The standard shapes for coffee tables are rectangular, square, and round. Square and round coffee tables take up the most space. These are ideal for homes that have lots of room to work with in front of the sofa or for room where the sofa and coffee table are being used for conversational seating. If your living room is centered around the TV then a rectangular coffee table is likely your best bet. If you like less clutter then it can certainly be worthwhile to consider a coffee table with built-in storage or a storage shelf. Because a TiVo remote and a Playstation controller aren’t exactly the most beautiful things to stare at.
When it comes to choosing décor for your home, it's often the simplest choices that end up being the most difficult. A coffee table may seem to be nothing more than a standard piece of furniture – an after-thought once the sofas, chairs and other pieces have been selected. However, after taking into account the many other factors you'll need to consider, it may become a much bigger job than you've anticipated.
Coffee table styling is a bit of an art. Since coffee tables usually have prominent places in living rooms, it's important that they look good, but it's equally important that they function in the way they're supposed to.
