Here's why I propose everyone have at least one cocktail ottoman in their lifetime (and why I must take my own advice):
Every night, I sit down on my sofa and I put my feet up on my wood coffee table. It's hard as a rock, and it certainly doesn't offer a comfy spot to cushion my heels which guides me to clear the table top to create room for a pillow so I could finally be cozy.
Just imagine if I were to alternatively buy a coffee table that is also an ottoman and therefore already has a plush, pillowy surface for me to kick back, relax, and rest my feet? And it could serve as additional seating when I need it to?
Win‐win. (Contrary to popular belief, your guests mustn't sit on your coffee table. But they could sit on your coffee table if it's also an ottoman.) Here are a little top 'competitors' whenever you're in explore of a cocktail ottoman.
#1 Rectangle Ottoman Velvet Tufted Cushion and Gold Metal X Base in BlueHere's a little touch of glam for your space thanks to the velvet cushioning and gold base. I'm partial to the aqua hue, but the fabric comes in a few other colors if this isn't your cup of tea.
It's big enough for a tray but small enough that you can theoretically get two and use side by side or in different parts of the room.
#2 Casey Upholstered Ottoman at WayfairThe neutral fabric, tufted detailing, and oval shape give this classic ottoman slash cocktail table a tailored, sophisticated presence. I feel more studious and regal just looking at it.
#3 Velvet Teal Cocktail Ottoman at Pier1 ImportsRound coffee tables and ottomans are magnificent picks for smaller spaces as they are much easier to go around and take‐up little visual space. I especially like the turn 'spindle legs' here that offer this piece a intermediate feel.
#4 Madison Gray Square Cocktail Ottoman at City FurnitureIf you're one to go totally modern (and the chrome legs would get you there), check out this gray, shape cocktail ottoman from City Furniture.
#5 Shaggy Ottoman at Urban OutfittersGo on, give your space some personality. If you're onboard the boho chic trend, this mango wood and shag wool ottoman would do just the trick! It's currently on sale for $249.99 (reg. price is $329) so if you love it, be sure to scoop it up fast!
#6 Ceni in Lagoon Blue at ArticleHere's another square cocktail ottoman that has more of a mid‐century modern vibe. That teal fabric is gorgeous if you ask me, though it does come in more neutral hues must you prefer. (Article also offers a matching sofa, loveseat and armchair if you're the matching type.)
#7 Briar Square Cocktail Table at Ballard DesignsThe Briar from Ballard Designs is perhaps the most coffee table ottoman of this whole list as it has a solid shelf for storage. Here, you truly get the best of both worlds.
HIGH#8 Beacon Ottoman in Lager at Z GallerieThis large ottoman is cool and modern with its chrome base, but the mustard‐y, camel‐hued leather really warms it up.
#9 Badia‐Printed Edlyn Cocktail Ottoman at AnthropologieHere's a special pick to jazz up a neutral sofa. There are tons of colors to pull from this printed fabric, which must create building a palette from it (or bringing it into an existing one) must be a breeze.
#10 Tablet Ottoman at ArticleI envision this leather number from Article in a sexy Brooklyn loft . The tufting softens the look while the brass legs remain it sharp and elegant. There are a few more leather color options, but you could't go wrong with black and gold.
#11 Benchmade by Brownstone Stansbury Coffee Table at Layla GrayceIf you're truly the delightful type, reward attention to this one, as there are stools that nest underneath the main ottoman.
There is no return or exchange on this item, so just be sure before you instruct. Fortunately, you could ask for 'fabric swatches' and 'customize the material' and 'wood finishes' to suitable your style and aesthetic.
(I'd get the ikat‐er, Autumn Glow Canvas 9‐and grey wash finish.)
#12 Geo Shag Carpet Ottoman at AnthropologieShag rugs may be all the rage, but we'd love to turn your attention to a slight alternative: the shag ottoman. It brings all the same warmth, character and texture, but without worrying about your pet or people's feet soiling it.
